These three medical global behemoths created an alliance (Pistoia) way back in 2007 to help staff and customers understand more about Blockchain technology. 

On 8th February 2019 have announced that they now have expanded Pistoia to improve data sharing, data identity and data integrity in the life sciences industry. Pistoia, in a recent survey found the two reasons for the slow adoption of Blockchain was a lack of skilled labour and understanding about the technology. It also found that 20% of respondents do not think blockchain adds value beyond a standard database.

Interestingly, Blockchain can bring transparency and better trust in data that can be more easily shared globally and so help the reduce the what the World Health organisation said “pharmaceuticals stands out as a subsector that is particularly prone to corruption”
